Rant

I need to rant. And it's abut something lately I have been encountering all over tumblr more frequently than on dA. 

It's apparently a common mentality that not liking the LGBT community = homophobic. And guess what? We get stuck with this stupid brand on us and everyone avoids us like the plague, all because we express our opinions. 

Allow me to clear something up. Homophobia is not just a dislike for homosexuals, gays, lesbians, and whatnot. It is a fear or extreme to them. Apparently this isn't clear to a majority of people, and the label isn't something to proud of. I don't feel proud when someone calls me a homophobe because the definition defines that I think of them as less than human. Which I don't. 

I must ask. Why when I, a Christian, speak out against them that I am persecuted, labeled, attacked and mistreated? Yet when someone says they support LGBTs they are met with celebrations? 

I think it's because many people believe people who dislike homosexuality want homosexuals to be treated as less than equals in society. Which isn't true. I learned my lesson about what being homophobic does, and what it does to your relationships and those you care about. I tore apart two people, pushed them away, lashed, and treated them like utter dirt because they were bisexual. 

I do not want to be labeled as a homophobic individual because it reminds of those two people. It's not a label I would be proud to wear. Allies of the LGBT community seem to think people like me are trash, bigoted, and should be beaten, broken, rebooted, and restarted so we can fit into what is becoming the norm. Tell me, isn't that what people used to want to do to you? So why, why, are you doing it to us? 

I'm sick of that. I'm sick of it. We should have to be ashamed of what we believe in, nor should you. Gays can be dangerous, they can be bigoted. And they don't get special privileges because they are a "minority." 

Just because you're a minority doesn't mean you get special privileges. You don't get to treat Christians like trash, nor should we do the same to you.
